Lorikeets
14″ x 23″ (or 23″ x 14″)!! Mixed Media. This is one of my first attempts at taking the skills I developed on larger paintings and applying them to smaller works. The double framing helps a lot – both in accents coloring (like matting) and painting integrity. This color combination really worked, and I gifted it to an Italian…

Dahlia Still Life
36″ x 30″ mixed media. Playing with bottles. Poured flower petals over a well-developed background. I found out this is a pretty tricky technique! Sara helped conceive the still life look. We own a vase that was a perfect model for this.

Night Walk
73″ x 90″. I like big paintings. I’ve always wanted to paint big. My wife and I went to Chicago with some friends and I was blown away by Marc Chagall’s large pieces in The Chicago Institute. I could not get it out of my head. At the same time I really wanted to create the light box effect. This…

24″ x 30″ mixed media. This started with a photo of 4 Jamaican women going to market in front of a yellow wall – I guess it shows you how far a painting can go. In my mind I still see the 4 beautiful women.

Young Man with Guitar
60″ x 31″ Mixed Media. When I started working at Fender I knew I needed to present myself as an artist. I was surrounded by musicians – some of them quite brilliant musicians. This painting was inspired by Picaso’s Old Man with Guitar. I painted it on an old closet door and it was a bit…

Red
42″ x 36″ Acrylic on Wood. Red is my studio muse. She was inspired by Van Gough’s “Portrait of a Peasant”. When you see such master works, they come alive. I just had to paint something like it. The result is not close, but inspired nonetheless. Fun with Big Hair. It took me years to get the eyes…
