Red

42″ x 36″ Acrylic on Wood. Red is my studio muse. She was inspired by Van Gough’s “Portrait of a Peasant”. When you see such master works, they come alive. I just had to paint something like it. The result is not close, but inspired nonetheless. Fun with Big Hair. It took me years to get the eyes right. Finally, Lee Wilder Snider helped me bring them to earth. Red has been looking at me in the studio for 10 years at least (her eyes follow me around). At first the frame was black (like most of my simple frames). I tried orange and WOW!
